The video is related to an alarming moment when the police dash cam captures blinding bolt of lightning strike the freeway just in front of patrol car. The bolt struck freeway in Gautier, Mississippi in storms Tuesday morning.  Sergeant Mark Rodriguez has found singed patch of concrete the next day. This is the most frightening clip that shows a bolt of lightning struck the freeway right in front of a police patrol car. The cruiser’s dash cam captured the strike on the I-10 freeway near Gautier, Mississippi, on Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Mark Rodriguez was driving the car during early thunderstorms, and said the strike almost blinded him. The dashcam of Sergeant Mark Rodriguez of the Gautier, Mississippi, and police department recorded the near-miss. It struck the I-10 as he was driving over the Tchoutacabouffa River. The undoubtedly deafening noise of the close-range blast was not captured by the camera, which was not recording audio. According to the WLOX local news station, Rodrigeuz later went back and found a singed slab of concrete.

A lightning strike is known as an electric discharge between the atmosphere and an earth-bound object. They mostly originate on the ground and terminate in the thundercloud, called ground to cloud (GC) lightning. In addition to that, a single lightning event is a "flash", which is a complex, multi-stage process, some parts of which are not fully understood. Most ground to cloud flashes only "strike" one physical location, referred to as a "termination". The primary conducting channel, the bright coursing light that may be seen and is called a "strike", is only about one inch in diameter, but because of its extreme brilliance, it often looks much larger to the human eye and in photographs.
